Review of Oldboy (2003) by Ilyass K — 03 Jul 2014
An intriguing film with a lot of potential. It's an elegant highlight of the power of societal taboos, rumors, that money is power and ignorance is bliss. Park does a fantastic job of directing again (except for the sex scene), the dual time shots are particularly exceptional.
not calling the villains bluff with the Men in Black pacemaker control was bullshit. But that's Dae, a dumb drunkard with a mind that deteriorated further from a decade and a half of isolation, television and psychological conditioning.
