Review of Old Joy (2006) by Gary C — 02 May 2009
A lean, lo-fi piece of escapism in Bush-era America. Reichardt works wonders with such a spare, unobtrusive style. It's the rare art film that doesn't feel pretentious at all because the characters are so truthfully crafted, and it's directed with such a sure hand.
