Review of Old Fashioned (2014) by Tricia D — 05 Mar 2015
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It started a little slow (although I had more appreciation for the beginning on my second time viewing the film), but picked up within the first few minutes. The cinematography and soundtrack are amazing and the film viewed as a well-crafted Indie.
There was much comic relief and cleverly placed messages that forced you to pay attention, but more importantly, it showed that chivalry and respect are SEXY. It dealt with judgmentalism and forgiveness (of self and others) without being preachy.
Scripture was rare but woven into conversation in a manner that seemed real and honest, and it included scenes that made it a bit edgier than most faith based films (alcohol, strippers, Girls Gone Wild filming, a male chauvinist radio host, temptation, etc).
Every woman in the theater was swooning upon exit - I will take one shade of Old Fashioned over 50 shades of Grey....every day. I'm not a film critic, I am just a highly educated, single, Christian female, who appreciated the message of this film.
