Review of Okja (2017) by Amara C — 04 Jul 2017
I saw this at a preview event without knowing what to expect. I was shocked, and so were many of the people in the theater. I found this movie disturbing and very hard to watch. Maybe I just don't get this director, but I did not like the tone of the movie which went from poop/fart jokes to visceral violence way too fast.
The movie revelled in the violence, and it made a lot of people in the theater ugly cry. Also, there were people who brought their children because when we saw the movie, it was still completely unrated.
Upon leaving the theater, these children were so upset, and rightly so. Many people seem to have liked this movie, but I really do not get it.
