Review of Okja (2017) by Jireh A — 07 Jul 2017
Bong Joon Ho did it again. Just like his other movies, he continues to create wonderful narrative stories.
I can't believe I was captivated by a movie about a pig. The young girl, Mija, captures the heart and soul of her relationship with Okja. The supporting casts provide enough essence especially Tilda, to create a wonderful film.
It is not your typical superhero, thriller, or exploding film. However, there are moments and scenes that are epic. This is definitely a story-telling movie.
Others might consider this movie as a propaganda against farming or animal abuse. But, I see it as hopeful movie about doing whatever it takes to fight for your loved ones.
Spoiler alert: There was a scene when the grandpa was talking about Mija's parents. This is an important scene because it alludes to the relationship between Okja and Mija. Okja is like a family; maybe like a parent, or the other way around. Thus, Mija needed to save her no matter what. And, this is why this movie is special for some who knows someone that are dear to them.
I hope it was shown in the big screen so I can enjoy the elegance nature shots of Korea, and the wonderful size of Okja!
A must-watch!
