Review of Okja (2017) by Ken S — 28 Jun 2017
A corporation discovers a Super Pig, and gives 26 of them to local farmers around the world, and after 10 years they will unveil the winner of the best Super Pig competition and begin selling the meat.
The winner of the competition is Okja, who has been living happily for 10 years with a young girl in the mountains of South Korea. Now that their happy life can all come crashing down, the girl attempts to rescue Okja from the corporation, as does the Animal Liberation Front, and it becomes a race to try and save Okja before she becomes food.
The movie is funny, sad, heartwarming and heartbreaking...and it is really wonderful. Highly recommended, even if you, like me, can appreciate the message and know full well you probably aren't going to take it to heart (because you are a cold bastard who will somehow continue to eat meat after this).
Really great film though, no matter the message (which, to be honest, is probably the correct message to spread).
