Only the Iranians can make a film set at a World Cup qualifying match that takes place almost entirely in a holding area just outside the stadium, a bathroom and van. The film has its charming moments, but as a statement about the horrifying treatment of women in his culture, Panahi's The Circle is certainly more successful and invigorating.
