Review of Offside (2015) by Michelle G — 28 Jun 2008
A great film that discusses the inequality that women face in Iran. The characters are engaging and the dialogue is funny at times. Taking place before the 2006 FIFA World Cup, I think the film does a great job of showing the exhilirating nature of soccer, and also the sense of national pride as your country's team qualifies for the most important tournament in soccer. The celebration scenes make you smile, and the ending is perfect and uplifting.
It's a girl-power film that I think everyone should watch at least once-- if you don't mind reading subtitles.
