Review of Office Space (1999) by Stefan H — 20 Jul 2014
This cult classic comedy pretty successfully poked a stick at dull office-life, and provides many pop culture landmarks, including "going office space" on hated appliances or wearing flair.
However, never having actually worked in an office, it's hard to relate to everything. I can relate to not always loving my job, but I don't have to file TPS reports.
There are a few chuckles here and there, I appreciate John C. McGinley's small role, and Ron Livingston's carefree demeanor that we all wish we could assume some days, but in the end, it's just another aged 90's comedy. A few years later, Ricky Gervais would claim the crown for office-related humor, and the UK and USA versions of The Office are a much more fulfilling place to spend your time.
It's funny, but not as funny as it could have been.
