Review of Office Christmas Party (2016) by Gwen H — 11 Dec 2016
The time of the year for another holiday christmas comedy film to be released around the season. These films can be worthwhile and memorable or decent flicks thats worth seeing once. Office Christmas Party is a fair comedy film that has its decent amount of humor and laughs and a plot that is a given cliched. It does have a fun talented casts that also made the film better like Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T.J. Miller, Kate Mckinnon, and Jennifer Aniston. Sure, there is so much more from other comedic skits or films that they have been costarring together before. The cast seem to have a fun time. There was a fun amount of humor, but only enough to view once before it dies out.
The plot was decent and cliched. Definitely those movies, were every character is set up with a conflict that easily worked out in the end. Bateman's character being recently divorced and always assisting with his coworker Tracey (Olivia Munn). Their chemistry how they partner with each other for many situations look like a spark of a relationship can begin at any moment. Their work company manager Clay (T.J. Miller) constantly being bossed around by his sister Carol (Jennifer Aniston), who is also a CEO of his company, and threatening on closing the company down would all work out in the end. When something is bound to happen to Clay and the situation will make his come any come to good use. Plus so many others, like a single mother having trouble finding a guy. And a cocky bullied employee, who brags about his imaginary girlfriend. All these characters are easily set up to a predictable outcome.
Office Christmas Party is still a fun comedy film that has its moments but plays out as nothing new.
