Review of Of Mice and Men (1992) by Greg R — 04 Oct 2018
This film was surprisingly accurate for the time set I would most definitely recommend it for 14+. I would say the audio and quality is pretty bad but this was made twenty years ago and also the quality really does set an atmosphere for the movie, like how they show world war one and two in black and white.
The movie beginning was extremely good because it left the audience confused and puzzled about what happened on that job. And the only clue we got was the woman crying and screaming for help in ripped clothes, while the main characters ran away from the situation. In the scene, before getting into the rest of the film, I could've of theorized a thousand theories. When we found out what really happened we were all surprised and it gave a big view of what Lennie is really like. Also, it shows how much George cares about Lennie when he still sticks with him.
When the character tell us what they want to do or what is considered as their American dream at the time, I got a real sense of hope and adventure. Since we saw the injured men and the discrimination in the raunch. When they talk about the American dream I saw the poor dirty workers get very happy just from thinking about hope and accomplishment.
Another great scene was when Lennie and Curly fought each other and Lennie beat him but through the fight, I felt bad for Lennie because he didn't want to hurt anybody but when he defended himself I felt happy until Lennie tried harder and harder, at this point we realized how strong Lennie really almost feels unhuman.
Grade: A+.
