This movie will most likely be the only film based on the book that will remain as faithful as this. That being said the film suffers because of this but not because its not an amazing story is just that many of the metaphors and theme's that worked so well in the book are glaring eye sores in the film.
Not to mention that you never care about Lenny's character. I've never cared about John Malkovich as an actor and this film is just another example that he can't play any one except for John Malkovich.
