Review of Of Gods and Men (2010) by Hrf J — 17 Oct 2010
How not be intrigued by the subject? Slow, but necessary, for everything is interior. Two elements struck me : the freedom of each monk's choice and the long diffcult march to a consensus. No displaced piety.
The motives of each monk were personal and often not terribly glorious or saintly. It could have ended with the last refectory scene. Lambert Wilson superb. The film does justice to the subject. Bravo.
