Saw this at the late show last Friday. Even knowing before that it ends tragically didn't keep me from being drawn into the increasing tension between monk leading to The Big Decision: Do we stay and risk our lives to do what we can to help the villagers who've come to rely on us for their own security, which now might be on the line from the Islamic fundamentalists now terrorizing the area? Or do we "cut and run," save ourselves and either return to our homeland, in France, or move to some safer monastery elsewhere in Africa? The answer may not surprise you, but how they got to unanimity might.
