Review of Of Gods and Men (2010) by Luis R — 21 Sep 2011
Brilliant and beautiful slow burn paced drama about men of faith living in a community that depends on them, even though they do not share the same God, and what happens when violence is throated if they do not leave.
The acting in this is phenomenal, with Lambert Wilson and Michael Lonsdale in particular, but everyone is incredibly solid in their delivery. Being based on a true story, it is amazing depiction of men of faith, love and conviction, even if it means their lives.
I liked how they didn't down play the fact that the monks were scared and imperfect, but ultimately chose to have faith in God. A beautiful beautiful movie.
