Review of Oculus (2014) by Late R — 11 Nov 2018
With solid acting and a clever structure, what's going to get you about 'Oculus' is how it, somehow, manages to coherently blend the characters traumatic past memories with the present, interspersing them with yet other events that may or may not be illusions.
This creates a huge amount of tension leaving us, the audience, constantly hanging and on edge, unsure of what to believe. Granted, the destination (the ending) may be predictable, but the journey to get there sure isn't, which makes this well-directed, smarter-than-average horror-flick a pleasure to watch.
