Review of Oculus (2014) by Marc C — 21 Jun 2015
Watched this last night, mainly due to it being a Blumhouse Production. I have to say, whilst largely cliched Blumhouse are doing a good job of producing horror with genuine scares and creepiness. Oculus was no exception although a fairly slow builder, possibly too slow.
The scares don't really kick in until the last 3rd and whilst effective (apple anyone?) it's too long in coming and the ending is, whilst attempting to be a twist, obvious from the outset. It's OK for a schlocky sit at home easy to watch 90 minute movie but it does nothing overall for the genre.
Mild recommend.
