Review of Oculus (2014) by Nicole C — 09 Oct 2014

The mirror made me do it! This reminded me of Sinister in some ways. But I was uncomfortable with scenes of parents strangling their children and a husband dragging and chaining his wife to a wall, etc.

While the scenes were well acted and the scare aspects are there at moments, the likeness to domestic abuse in real life moves this from one kind of creepy to another. I also did not care for the fact that they do not seem to do much to develop the origin of the supernatural malevolence that they face.
