Review of Oculus (2014) by Richard V — 21 Mar 2016
I'm generally uninterested in horror films, but Oculus was a suspenseful and tense horror film that bends time and makes you question what is happening often, thanks to an evil mirror. As the film progresses, it becomes more apparent what is happening, and - while it does deflate a bit of the psychology, it does ramp up on the creep factor.
. It's not a slasher horror film like the crap you'd expect in January, but more of a psychological and unsettling horror film on par with The Babadook, The Conjuring, or even The Shining. Not to say this film is as good as those: There are some flaws here and there, including an abrupt or just unsatisfying resolution, but it's still a Netflix film worthy of your time.
