Review of Octopussy (1983) by Chuck K — 04 Feb 2010
Arguably, Roger Moore's strongest Bond film, Octopussy is notoriously underrated. With a strong cast, including an exemplary performance from Frenchman, Jourdan, John Glen's second Bond film at the helm is a fast paced, intriguing adventure. Although, at times complex, the story matches the very best in the series and aside from some comically camp moments (systematic of the Moore era), Moore is able to demonstrate his equally underrated dramatic skills.
Coupled with this, John Barry's understated score, compliments the tense mood of the film and its chase sequences. Whilst the locations for the most part are stunning. Apart from a cheesy moment here and there, Octopussy stands as one of the most well rounded and thoughtful films of the franchise.
