Review of Octopussy (1983) by Dave L — 29 Nov 2010
Oh, right. This is why I hate James Bond movies starring Roger Moore. Terrible overacting and unconvincing melodrama abound. There's also the ridiculous "comedy" that comes with Roger Moore's Bond, such as a scene where 007 and his ally are engaged in a chase and his ally fights off some of their attackers using a tennis racket (complete with "boing" sound and audience interested in the "vollies.
") Also, possibly the worst scene in any James Bond movie: Bond swings on vines to escape his would-be captors in the Indian jungle, which is accompanied by the original Tarzan sound effect. Homage? Perhaps.
Fitting? Absolutely not. George Lazenby aside, Roger Moore is my least favorite Bond and its because his films are stupid and campy. Bond is supposed to be cool!
