Review of Octopussy (1983) by John B — 06 Jan 2014
It's incredibly daft, misogynistic and ridiculous, and really that's how I like my Roger Moore Bond films, the very cheekily titled Octopussy is a blast, filled with gags, babes, laughs and incredible, extraordinarily dangerous looking stunts and action that puts cgi'ed blockbusters today to absolute shame, ther are scenes were it's clear people not only could have, but very nearly died, see the terrifying shot were a real car flies into a small fishing boat with two stuntmen on it, or the amazingly shot climax set atop a small plane which I frankly dont know how they pulled off.
With Moore's bond films you know you'll get guaranteed non stop action, innovative practical derring do and a lack of pretense that more of today's adventure movies could use. The plot is mad nonsense involving Faberge eggs, nuclear weapons and a circus show but you've also got to love a movie that dresses bond up as a clown, has a one man crocodile submarine and contains a scene were an army of hot, deadly circus women descend upon the bad guys mansion.
