Review of Octopussy (1983) by Kamrin D — 05 Nov 2008
This is one of the silliest (in a good way because they just let everything go with this movie) Bond movies of the series (not counting 67's Casino Royale). The story was very simple, James Bond is following a jewelry smuggling gang only to prevent a rogue Soviet general from starting World War 3.
Why is this the silliest Bond movie, where do I begin:
Bond fakes his death to escape Octopussy's compound (Why?) while wearing an aligator suit.
Bond escapes from Kamal Khan while swinging on trees with yes, the Tarzan scream.
And finally, James Bond (Britian's top agent) diffusing a nuclear warhead (that could cripple America's foothold in Europe allowing the Soviets to invade and start World War III) in a clownsuit (WHAT?!).
In all honesty, this is just a fun movie to watch, not one of Moore's best but certainly not his worst.
