Review of Octopussy (1983) by Xander D — 26 Jan 2014
Roger Moore returns yet again for the 13th Bond film overall and his 6th appearance in Octopussy. This film was trying to compete with the legal disputes that led to the creation of a non EON made bond film Never Say Never Again. I would still say this film is average. When 009 is killed on a mission 007 is sent to investigate in India the mysterious origins of a jewelery smuggler Octopussy. The fact that Octopussy is played by someone who was already killed in The Man with The Golden Gun was really disappointing. You would think you could find and cast a completely different person to play such a big role. The overall story just gets to be a bit much with the whole circus and I just did not enjoy this movie as much as some of the others.
Bond Girl - 2/5.
Having a repeat Bond girl was disappointing especially given she was not one of my favorites to begin with.
Gadgets - 3/5.
Gadgets are back in this and we have homing watches, a pen to dissolve metal and even a crocodile craft for some stealth.
Villains - 2/5.
Quite a bit of henchmen in this one each with somewhat unique abilities. All of them collaborating on a major scheme, but none of them really stood out enough for me.
Music 3/5.
Decent song and the first to not feature the film's title in the song.
