Review of Octopussy (1983) by Rob H — 26 Mar 2011
Octopussy has all the elements of a standard James Bond flick: beautiful women, exotic locations, wry humor, and plentiful stuntwork. The Russkies are the villains, although in the era of perestroika, Orlov was an insubordinate renegade.
There's a new M, the old Q, and a comely assistant to Ms. Moneypenny that didn't stick. The exotic locales are India and Germany, from the Taj Mahal to Checkpoint Charlie. The new inventions were a homing device, a listening device, and a pen that dispenses a chemical to disintegrate metal.
As for the beautiful women, well, there is an island entirely of women, all gorgeous, led by Maud Adams, the leading Bond lady in this movie.
