Review of Octopussy (1983) by Pat S — 13 Sep 2008
Being a Roger Moore Bond, this has its share of daffy moments. Being a later Roger Moore Bond, itâ??s also a bit over-bloated. Maud Adams is also a fairly uninspiring Bond girl, and I canâ??t help but feel the movie would have been better if, like the poster, she had eight arms.
Having said that, with its alternate reality fantasy version of postcolonial India detached from anything resembling the real world, and its nice villain turn from Steven Berkoff, also detached from the real world, Octopussy has a lot more flavour than its bland predecessor, For Your Eyes Only.
