Review of October Sky (1999) by Zachary Z — 07 Feb 2009
October Sky is a pretty good movie with an inspirational theme. Set in a minetown in West Virginia, Homer Hickman (Gyllenhaal) is a high school kid who wants to fly rockets into space. After numerous setbacks, they finally reach their goal by the end.
The journey from start to end is surprisingly entertaining, though entirely predictable. Chris Cooper is great in his role, as always. Overall, October Sky is a solid movie that suffers from its formulaic presentation.
