Review of October Moon (2005) by Jim H — 04 Nov 2017
I might be wrong, but I think this is the first gay horror movie. There had been a bunch of the David DeCoteau homo-erotic films like The Brotherhood before, but those were still "straight" movies. October Moon is specifically gay, with a story focused on three gay men in a Fatal Attraction horror love triangle. The reason I love this movie is because of the characters. The movie takes its time, giving the audience a chance to really know them before the horror kicks in. Once it does it gives you sick feeling to your stomach not just for the victims, but also for the killer because you now know where he's coming from - his motives.
The acting ranges from "ok" to great. Stand outs are the leads Jeff Dylan Graham, Sean Michael Lambrecht and especially Jerod Howard, plus great supporting roles by Judith O'Dea, Brinke Stevens, Darcey Vanderhoef and Tina Ona Paukstelis. I wish more people knew about this movie. (I liked the sequel November Son too, even though it has a very different take.).
