Review of October Baby (2011) by Caitlin J — 24 Mar 2012
This movie brings up the tense and seldom talked about topic of abortion. Maybe it is mentioned in an episode of a tv show but this is the first movie centered on it. I went to see it with my parents when they visited me at school. They told me to bring whoever I wanted, their treat. I knew what the movie was about but Im not sure that my friends did. Coming out of the movies all our eyes were red and two of the girls I was with mentioned how they were on the fence because they have only heard the "my body, my choice" side.
Watching the movie there are a lot of funny moments but also (as I mentioned the red eyes before) many sad moments. This movie is centered on the topic of abortion but it also has the subtopics of her relationship with her parents, friendship, young love, forgiveness, and the want to belong. I'm sure there are many more but these are the topics I related to as a young adult.
It was a great movie! Worth the time and money. If you want to see a good movie. Suggest it to a friend that is on the fence of the abortion topic. If you are pro-choice, challenge your beliefs and go see it. If you just want to be entertained for a few hours, take your friends and family.
