October is a story of a young imperfect protagonist (Dan) played by Varun Dhawan who finds his purpose in life through an unusual love affair with a friend and co-worker Shiuli (Played by Banita Sandhu).

What is interesting about this movie is that it gives very little background of the characters and provides little justification and excuse of their personal idiosyncrasies. Yet. in a lot of ways the movie reflects our life as we seldom get to know the background of people who we meet as adults.

The Journey of Dan and our encounter with Dan begin when we meet him. As time progresses, we see how Dan's relationship progresses with various characters in the movie, some of whom knew him for long and some know him for a shorter period.

However, the evolutions of these relations happen with each person's unique way of looking at life and not necessarily linked to the length of Dan's relationship with them. This is one of the reasons that we see a very wide reaction to the movie by the people who have watched it.

We will probably conclude Dan as rude, stupid, callous, unprofessional, intense, irresponsible or responsible depending on our own way of looking at life. Consequently, we will find the movie slow or fast, real life or senseless, heart touching or stupid.

This movie with all its story-telling is a blank canvas and is a giving us a chance to react with our own sensibilities that is seldom found in most movies. If you love reading books, you will enjoy this movie.
