Review of O.C. Babes and the Slasher of Zombietown (2008) by ● Nate & — 02 Oct 2011

Well they certainly try and ram some interesting stuff into this one but alas the title as in most cases is far more interesting than the subject matter. For a start the fast forward button is required for the first 5 minutes as an awfully painfull electro style tune plays over the credits which is so high pitched it makes dogs weep when its heard.

Then we get to the main set piece which is the bar where most of the film takes place. Theres a scene with some porn stars rehearshing but its actually pretty dire to watch and does nothing to progress the story.

All these different people meet up in the bar and then some zombies are outside and there a killer inside. And this is where it falls down. The zombies are used just as a selling point. They never enter the building and by the end of the film are completely forgotten about which is a shame as this would have added an extra elemnet to the movie.

To be honest im not even sure if they were there at all as theres some really random scenes involving a topless woman only one man can see and some people falling over at the end. Im guessing that they are meant to have been poisoned but its shown so weirdly I have no idea! So they film is essentially guess the killer.

The deaths are bloodless and cheap and nasty so nothing to write home about and if you have seen any of the scream films then the reveal at the end is not gunna entertain you much either. Still some of the characters are ok for such a low budget and its ok in small doses its just again nothing really happens and with no suspense built it its not really worth the effort.

The most annoying thing is the constant nold clips that are put in to showcase certain scenes and to show to the viewer "hey look we like night of the livnig dead". They do nothing but slow the film down and become very irrattaing after a while as they break up what little narrative there is.

probably not worth bothering with unless you can watch it for free and you fast forward it a bit!
