Review of Obvious Child (2014) by Jeffrey N — 27 Feb 2015
"Obvious Child" is the combination of uncomfortably blunt, yet uniquely honest, but too forced into a full-length film after its original short film status. Jenny Slate, whose rugged performances usually are rough enough to improve the same old boring movie, is just too much to appreciate her fully.
The film ends rather abruptly, which is ok since it is a uniquely told story, but knowing this was a short film stretched to a full-length, yet it still times out at only 1 hour, 23 minutes and FEELS stretched out during much of it, an abrupt ending was a very hard brake.
The movie was well-received by critics and audiences alike, but I felt like being in a washing machine on the spin cycle.
