Review of Observe and Report (2009) by Bashar H — 24 Nov 2010
This is the funnier version of Paul Blart, in other words the better film. While Paul Blart was a shit fest of epic proportions, Observe And Report delivers on the laughs big time. The story is fairly simple, but is effective with Seth Rogen pulling off his usual antics, he's a new breed and totally original.
His only bad film is Funny People, he keeps on making good comedies. Observe And Report is one of his best and his most insane since Superbad. The humour is vulgar, raunchy and so very wrong. I mean that in a good way of course.
I'm a big fan of Seth Rogen and he really delivers another winner with Observe And Report. If you despised Paul Blart: Mall Cop, then check this film out. The story is actually better than Paul Blart, and actually more realistic.
Where Paul Blart failed, Observe & Report delivered. This one crazy film from start to finish, and many times while watching it, I was like man this film is really out there. But the film manages to be very funny because it crosses the line that Paul Blart didn't.
This film explored a darker more adult oriented story of storytelling, while Paul Blart was too family friendly. The humour is more vulgar and it doesn't hide the fact that it's a crude film, in fact the film feels like it prides itself on being fucked up, crude, and vulgar, and inthis movies, it's a big plus.
Observe & Report doesn't take itself seriously, and it ends up being one funny film.
