Review of Oblivion (2013) by Kalisurfer — 18 Apr 2013
Everything that is good about the movie are the intangibles. The soundtrack by M83 is great (makes you wonder why they don't do more), the special effects, art direction and photography are stunning. There is no need to suspend disbelief.
But once you look past the intangibles, the movie starts to suffer a bit. The acting feels a little force with Tom Cruise doing what he needs to get through the script, but the rest of the cast doesn't quite feel like it believes in the story and that contrast is painful to watch for 2 hours.
While the plot twist add some freshness, the last scene leaves me puzzled with what Kosinski is trying to get across.
