Review of Oblivion (2013) by Logan M — 02 Mar 2014
One of the most underrated films of 2013 in our opinion. We're hoping this will at least become a cult classic - it deserves it. The combination of the striking, glorious, overwhelming, impressive visuals and the spot-on score by M83 meant an almost permanent state of goosebumps.
Jaded critics complain about the story. It's science fiction people. And even if you think the story flawed or predictable (and there's some merit in the latter), it's not really a reason for this low an overall rating, in my opinion.
Tom Cruise did some marvellous acting - and I'm somewhat of a Tom-sceptic so that's saying something. We found it beautiful and thought-provoking and we'd instantly buy a book with the visuals.
