Review of Oblivion (2013) by Marcus N — 29 May 2014
Tom Cruise Sci Fi ???
Very watchable but to say the least cliche.
Cruise is very eccentric and very believable in his role, playing a man drawn to his past and willing to dig into what he thinks is true or not his name gives the movie the credibility to go watch.
Nicely paced considering the time frame for the movie, and doesn't leave you thinking when it will end. Well enough written script by Krosinki leaves you wondering with Cruise's character (jack Harper) who is he really and what is this man so anxious to find.
The supporting cast is well chosen in Freeman and Olga Kurkylenko.
They both perform to what's expected and nothing more, not amazing or terrible just good enough.
Some solid Sci Fi action scenes the few that there are anyway, the trailer promises you the visuals you will endeavor. The creativity is truly epic and the choreography is at its best here.
I won't spoil but predictable plot, and shake your head moments of cliche madness make this a very well pictured Sci Fi extravaganza with a unique mindset but just not a fully functioning motion picture. Entertaining but average overall picture.
