Review of Oblivion (2013) by Dario R — 08 Jun 2014
One of Tom Cruise's better films in a long while. Been burned before with Tom Cruise films in the past, so it took one of my best friend's recommendation for me to finally see the film. The film is AMAZINGLY beautiful (especially on blu-ray), and it has some of the best visual effects I've see in any sci-fi film.
The story is really interesting, and had me hooked throughout. If it wasn't for the cinematography and visual effects I would of given the film 3 stars, but the look and the effects brought it up to 4 stars for me.
Even though I've been burned by Cruise before , there is still something likable to his performances in his films (still the best runner in film). There is still a possibility that he could fall into the Nic Cage (who is just awful now) level in films, but I hope he can avoid that.
I recommend this flick.
