Review of Oblivion (2013) by Najd G — 13 Sep 2014
I was only vaguely interested in the story as it rolled along, and ultimately thought the whole thing could've been explained better. I get the story; I understand what happened now. But, it required a quick Google search, and, frankly, reading about how it all came together was more interesting than watching it play out in the movie itself.
Additionally, I was rather disappointed with the scene sets and CGI in this movie. There were several moments that I felt like I was watching actors on a Hollywood set, and it caused some difficulty to "buy in" to the story.
Overall, I felt this one was almost worthwhile but there was a real disconnect with the artistic direction. The story had some potential, but like the Tet, it just didn't have much authentic life to it.
