Review of Oblivion (2013) by Xavier C — 08 Mar 2015
A decent sci-fi thriller. There isn't really anything exceptional about it, except for a few really good visuals. The plot is actually rather unique to what I've seen, but it still feels exactly like a lot of other movies I've seen.
One aspect of the movie that was ruined entirely for me was that the scavs were actually humans. It's a concept that's already been done hundreds of times, so I could have probably seen it coming anyway, but all the trailers make it very obvious that they are humans. Even though certain things in the movie try desperately to make it seem like they might be aliens, with the way they look, sound, and move, it was no surprise to me at all, and I didn't like that I was just impatiently waiting for it to be revealed so it'd be over already.
