Outdated, Rambling, Plotless... And one of the best damn movies ever made. The news that it's finally being released on DVD in October fills me with delight-- almost like being stuck in the center of a chocolate sandwich!
At first glance it's like a wacky carefree whimsical screwball comedy with a catchy soundtrack and an uplifting ending...
It isn't a thing like the cynical nihilism of "If..." at all!
But then you look closer.
At over 3 hours in length, "O Lucky Man!" is surely a contender for the lengthiest sarcastic rants ever.
In the end, happiness is only momentary--- And you'll probably die alone in a gutter.
