Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) by Pj P — 21 Aug 2010
Mike Seeger died in August 2009. He was so much part of the revival of Amercican Folk music which figures so prominently in this movie. The music is a really great part of this. But ... This is another totally brilliant Coen brothers movie that I should have seen before. Totally, absolutely brilliantly funny film - based on the Odessey and set in depression era Mississipi - WTF! Totally satisfying images like the overhead camera pulling back to give the view of the black guitarist being picked up at, yes of course, the crossroads. Oh my!
The cast is just beyond belief - Clooney is just, well, perfect is what he is. Every bit of this wonderful movie gave me such a buzz. This is now absolutely up among my most favourite films of all time.
