Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) by Heri C — 06 Sep 2012
This is a funny movie based on Homer's Odyssey but set in Mississippi in the 1930's. George Clooney plays Ulysses Everett McGill and John Goodman plays the "Cyclopes". There are sexy sirens and a blind prophet all taken from The Odyssey.
But it's also a comedy road picture. Add it's a hillbilly comedy. They used the latest computer technology to turn the green plants of Mississippi yellow so that the film looks like dust bowl Oklahoma.
The movie looks just like I imagine Oklahoma looking like in the 1930's. But the best thing about this movie is the music. They recreated the old time country music that was popular in the 1930's.
I missed this movie in the theaters but got the DVD.
