Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) by Julian T — 13 Dec 2011
Loosely based on Homers 'The Odyssey', the Coen brothers give us another wonderfully crafted, creative and engaging film. If it weren't for 'The Big Lebowski', this would be the Coen brothers greatest movie. As it is, its a very close second.
Without a doubt Clooney's best performance of his career. He is complemented perfectly by terrific acting from every member of the cast, especially highlighted by Turturro, Nelson, Goodman and Hunter. In addition to its signature Coen brothers quirkiness and script, its often overlooked as a great period piece.
Its bluegrass soundtrack and score work to perfection, and the Coen brothers give us another film which is something you've never seen before, and will never see again.
