Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) by Daniel A — 18 Jul 2011
A rousing and funny romp from the Coens that successfully translates Homer's Odyssey from mythical Greece to the deep South, and shows Clooney to be a solid comedic talent. While the peculiar whimsy so common to the Coens' trademark style may alienate some viewers, O Brother.
.. is still an amusing comedy, backed by a fantastic script (knowing not to take itself too seriously) and even delights visually, largely thanks to Roger Deakins' always impressive cinematography.
