Review of O (2001) by Creme F — 25 Sep 2008
Well, even though I never read shakesphaere's 'Othello', I still know that this movie pretty much sucked....starting right from the beginning with hartnett's stupid 'hawk' quote, I knew this movie would be a very lame and cheesy film. t shows hartnett's jealousy and the damage it causes, but it displays it very poorly and is very uncompelling....SPOILER.
AHEAD----> so basically hartnett (who is a mopy, pathetic loser in this film) convinces a guy to frame, start a fight with, and kill somebody all so he can go out with a girl. and hartnett, tells his girlfriend to take her best friend's scarf (that was a very precious item of the family of her boyfriend who gave it to her), and she just goes right along. yes, and hartnett somehow convinces meki pheifer that his girlfriend is screwing meki's best friend (this is interesting) and meki takes his word for it without ever confronting the friend and even when his girlfriend swears she isn't cheating....ok, so it ends by hartnett basically telling lies up the wazoo (all cuz he sucks at life and he's not that popular) and everybody basically believes him without question and then somehow all 6 main characters (minus hartnett) kill each other?? (seriously I think every actor who played one of the students and had more then 5 lines in the movie got killed in the last minute). i'm sure in shakespeare's play it was put together better, but it was awful in this movie. nothing fit or made sense and after almost every scene segement you just go "why?". I merely give it 2 stars because as unfullfilling as it was, I didn't fall asleep. but for a movie casting martin sheen, josh hartnett, meki pheifer, julia stiles, and john heard, the result was terrible.
