Review of Nuts (1987) by Lawrence E — 12 Nov 2007
While not commercially successful this movie highlights Barbra Streisand as she has never been seen before. The story of a prostitute who kills one of her johns. In the aftermath she's shipped off to a mental hospital where she remains while a court tries to determine if she's fit to stand trial.
The demons of her past come screaming out as the prosecuter and her own attorney (Richard Dreyfuss) examine and cross-examine her and her family. Babs courtroom testimony and subsequent outbursts to the judge are strong and brutally honest.
