Review of Nurse Betty (2000) by Luca V — 20 Feb 2009
That is what usually happens to me when I surf the Net. It happened when I watched TV as well, but now with the Internet there is more involvement with people who seem real (they are not, most of the time, I mean they do not correspond to the image I have of them).
The explanation for this total identification with the TV Soap Operas, is that Betty is shocked because she saw her husband brutally assassinated by M. Freeman and his son Chris Rock. This person who is also sang by Garbage in the Song - stupid girl - proves herself to be the opposite of what a television geek is.
I mean she is a resourceful woman. She passes from working as a waiter in Kansas to work as a nurse in L.A. (without any degree), and she can interact with her idols with no fear (probably because she thinks they are what they play).
Good girl and vapid, this is the usual part for Zellweger, she does this great. The genuine hillbillies come to save the poor Betty (who found a house simply saving the life of the brother of the flatmate).
The bad men are punished. Happy ending. Closing credits.
