Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by Cristian B — 08 Nov 2010
An insightful and moving portrait of a young John Lennon searching for his identity. The movie features a strong ensemble cast. Johnson is impressive in the lead role. He may not look entirely like Lennon, but he captures his mischief, passion, and pain.
Scott Thomas and Duff are excellent as the aunt and mother, whose complicated relationship with Lennon, affected his early life. Director Wood does an impressive job of taking one of the most well known musicians and presenting how his formative years would go on to shape the man he became.
An entertaining, touching, and honest look at a young man on the brink of greatness.
