Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by Diana K — 13 Nov 2010
(Recommended) I recently saw a fine independent British film about John Lennon's early days ( prior to Beatlemania ) called Nowhere Boy. So with apologies to the team of Lennon and McCartney, here's my "musical" review:
( Sung to the tune, Nowhere Man ).
There's a film, Nowhere Boy,.
'Bout Lennon's life, you might enjoy,.
His rise to fame before he became,.
A somebody.
This film shows the teenage years,.
His ambitions, hopes, and fears,.
One mother who reappears,.
Agony.
Aaron Johnson's the lead,.
Quite appealing, yes, indeed,.
This breakout role shows,.
Aaron in full control.
Ah, la, la, la, la.
Actress Duff named Anne Marie,.
Wonderful, like Kristin T.,.
Nowhere Boy's two Mums,.
Can do it all.
Nowhere Boy's director,.
Solid work, except for,.
Artsy shots, Sam Taylor Wood,.
Should have restrained.
Conventional point of view,.
This bio-pic still engages you,.
Even if the plot seems too,.
Extreme.
Nowhere Boy's erratic,.
And a tad melodramatic,.
But its actors are truly in command. .
Ah, la, la, la, la .
So this film called Nowhere Boy,.
Still rates as a partial joy.
Making it worth a trip to John's life story,.
Making it worth a trip to John's life story,.
Making it worth a trip to John's life story. GRADE: B.
