Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by Charlene M — 15 Nov 2010
I enjoyed learning more about John Lennon's early life, although I didn't feel much emotional connection to him or any of the characters. In addition, I think the actor who played the young John Lennon was much better-looking than the actual John Lennon, and the reverse was true for the actor who played Paul McCartney.
I also didn't like that the actors lip-synced. No one expects them to sound just like The Beatles any more than they expected Joaquin Phoenix to sound exactly like Johnny Cash, but they could've at least tried.
One final complaint, couldn't they have played "Nowhere Man" at least once during the movie, even if it were just during the credits? As negative as my review probably seems, I am glad I saw this movie.
